Abstract:
Organizations are facing increasing challenges in effectively managing and utilizing data as a strategic asset within the rapidly evolving data landscape. Traditional monolithic data architectures are struggling to keep pace with the heterogeneous nature and high velocity of generated data, making it necessary to explore alternative paradigms. This article investigates the potential of data virtualization as a data integration pattern, discussing its core capabilities and features, as well as its role in enabling distributed data architectures such as data fabric and data mesh. Furthermore, the article provides a comparison of common data integration patterns and highlights the advantages of data virtualization especially in the distributed data architecture.
